Applications can be submitted in English or German.

Fill out the application form and send the documents by e-mail until 10 November 2019 23:59 hrs. (date of receipt via e-mail) to bewerbung(at)forumjungespitzenforscher.de.

Eligibility Requirements

Please note: If you are planning to apply for a patent, please discuss this with the patent office of your institution beforehand, as participation and presentation of your idea may infringe the novelty status.

Submission deadline of the application documents is the 10 November 2019 23:59 hrs. (date of receipt via email). All ideas with a clear reference to research in the field of climate change at Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, or Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and other research institutions in Berlin, may be submitted. The following groups from the above-mentioned institutions are encouraged to participate: Doctoral students, postdoctoral and research assistants (m/f/d) Junior professors and senior clinical physicians (m/f/d) Participation is possible as an individual and as a team. Only one submission per participant or team is possible. If the idea has already won awards in other competitions, the participants must indicate this in their application. The current sponsorship must also be specified in the application. The idea must have been developed independently by the participant(s) and must not infringe on the rights of third parties. The application documents must be complete. Incomplete submissions or submissions exceeding the given scope of the competition cannot be considered. The contest participants agree to present their ideas at the closing event and to participate in the press and public relations activities. Participation in the competition implies acceptance of the above listed conditions. The organizers assume no liability for statements and behavior of jurors and other persons involved in the competition. The organizer and the partners of competition will treat the submitted ideas confidentially. The personal data of the participants will not be passed on by the organizer to unauthorized third parties. Legal recourse is excluded. If none of the submissions are found to be worthy of an award by the jury, no prizes may be awarded.

How it works

In the first round, a jury evaluates all submissions according to the following categories:
  • Innovative content of the idea
  • Realizability
  • Business or social potential
The six best applicants or teams will be invited to present their ideas on 20 November 2019. The decision will be made by the 15 November 2019. The presentations of the finalists must be received by the 19 November 2019. On the day of the Forum, the finalists will present their ideas to a jury of experts and audience. The three best presentations will each receive 10,000 EUR, the other top finalists will each receive 2,000 EUR towards further research. The prizes will be paid to the respective research institution. The event program is forthcoming.
